Twenty One Pilots get the fists pumping with their new release, ‘Shy Away‘. Instantly energetic and full of captivating hooks, this is likely to become another big hit for the American music duo.
A synth and drum beat open the track boasting a very Two Door Cinema Club vibe. But Twenty One Pilots soon get back to regular business in the chorus. Doing what they do best, the pair unleash a catchy refrain that brings a melody that you will struggle to get out of your mind. It is a technique that both band members have mastered over the years, and they provide the goods here once again!
Excitement
Vocally, frontman Tyler Joseph is full of raw emotion, and he speaks about not shying away from awkward situations. Instead, he talks about pushing out of the comfort zone; his lyrical message is poignant. Texturally, his timbre is flavoursome, with lots of tones and feelings rising to the surface’s top. As a result, he brings excitement, and the energy flows from the opener to the closing stage.
Likewise, the music is as omnipotent as you would expect if familiar with the duo’s earlier work. Josh Dun smashes it, and his drum rhythm hits with a thunderous bite from the get-go. He is sharp, and his skills are evident with him paving the track’s journey with his infectious arrangements. But, is he one of the greatest drummers to rise out of the scene in recent times? Yes, and he is getting better with every release.
‘Shy Away‘ is from Twenty One Pilots upcoming album, ‘Scaled And Icy‘ which is due out on the 21st of May.
