Loud and upfront, The Horrors return with ‘Lout‘, their first release since their V album dropped in 2017. Four years on, and the chaps are still as mad for it as they ever were with them boasting a soundscape that you will undoubtedly struggle to locate anywhere else.

Fearless, from the get-go, the industrial riffs cut through the mix with potent flavour, and it is challenging not to sway into their unique hemisphere. The drums hit hard, and the group stay loyal to their signature sound. Also, they leverage their distinct ability here, leaving the hairs standing up on the back of the neck with their driving melodies.

Faris Badwan

It starts big, and it is hard to believe that it will get even bolder given prominent the opener, but it does! As it progresses, the guns blaze with an audacious flow and lead singer Faris Badwan gets back to business with him smashing through his vocal. Nevertheless, you will be highly skilled to understand what he is saying, given his words are inaudible. But who gives a damn?

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a Dalek became the frontman of a rock band? Doubt you have, but imagine that concept and then listen to the refrain on ‘Lout‘. It has a very freaky harrowing vibe that many will compare to something you may hear from the dreaded Dalek! But it is splendid! It is rugged, and it is what The Horrors do so well, continually keeping the listener gripping for dear life.
