We are a big fan of The Amazons over here at GSG Media, therefore seeing them on our new music list this week makes us really happy! Their new single, “Living A Lie” is out now and in typical Amazon fashion, it is a treat for the lugs!
A harrowing introduction welcomes us to the new era for The Amazons who last dropped music back in 2022 with the LP, “How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me?”. From the get-go here though it is evident that we are in for a treat with not only this song but also the next releases which the band are likely to drop in the near future. There is a slight delay before the music appears, a 10-second build-up with the faders gradually turning up with an almost religious and apocalyptic female vocal echoing out of the speakers. It is the perfect return from the group.
Weighty Sound
The vocals from Matt Thompson are as impressive as ever and for me, he is one of the best modern singers in the rock scene right about now. Furthermore, his vocals are perfectly suited to the music which the band create and he adds extra weight to the already solid sound created by all members of the group. The Amazons work in unison together and it is obvious that they love creating music and experimenting with sounds and effects.
Vibe Change
The vibe changes massively after around 3 minutes and the songs becomes much more lively. It leaves the colder, bolder aura behind and delves into a new knee-jerking space. The transition is super cool and the band prove their class here, it all feels so natural, yet technically the music changes quite drastically with a new drum rhythm and mood change.
