Taylor Swift brought the house down at the AMAs on Monday, taking home a total of 6 awards in one night. Significantly, Swift has now broken Michael Jackson’s long standing record of the most American Music Award wins of all time. Topping the list with a total of 29 awards across her successful career.
The pop Queen is not only artist of the year, but also artist of the decade.
She accepted her artist of the year award with a passionate speech, telling her fans that all artists want to do is “create something that will last,” and thanking them for the “fun, incredible, exhilarating times” and countless memories they have shared together over the years.
The Performance
In one of the most notable musical performances of the year, the Artist of the Decade Award winner, Taylor Swift, stole the show. She took to the stage with a medley of her greatest hits over the past ten years. Including “The Man,” “Love Story,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” where she was joined on stage by Halsey and Camila Cabello, and “Lover.”
The performance came after many years of trouble with talent manager Scooter Braun and her former record label. In short, ownership of her back catalogue has created many problems for Taylor Swift, limiting her ability to perform many of her old hits.

“I’ve been planning to perform a medley of my hits throughout the decade on the show,” Taylor wrote online. “Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television”
However, this statement met with a response from her old record label, Big Machine. One of their executives wound up telling TMZ otherwise. “Taylor Swift can 100% perform all of her catalog, past and present, on the AMAs.”
Taylor opened her performance with ‘The Man’ wearing a white button down shirt. This shirt featured the names of 6 albums owned by her old label. Including Red and Speak Now. She may not have addressed the feud in her acceptance speech, but her outfit really did all of the talking!
