Newcastle-based indie band, Maximo Park have revealed that recording their eighth studio album, “Stream Of Light” was a challenging endeavour. Moreover, the group famous for songs like “Our Velocity” and “Books From Boxes” stated that they had to record the album in a rough part of Atlanta, purely for economic reasons.

Short Album Process

Some bands go away for months perfecting every little area of their mixes, however, that was not the case for Maximo Park who could only afford to work with American Producer Ben Allen for two and a half weeks. The group also rented out an Airbnb nearby and had to walk to the studio each morning through sketchy streets, ouch!

Not All Misery

But, it was not all misery for the indie stars. Paul Smith the frontman for the band said it was a “bonding” experience however he said that none of the group admitted that given that they are all middle-aged men. To be honest, it adds edge to the album, I mean hearing about bands recording at the most flash studios in the best of areas gets a bit boring after a while.

Success

Maximo Park have enjoyed much success since their formation back in 2000. They have had countless hit records, and almost got a number-one album in 2021, narrowly missing out with Architects taking the top spot.
