Raw Energy
The raw energy of punk rock is returning with the release of three live The Sex Pistols albums from their 1978 US tour. These recordings, which capture the unvarnished anarchy of Johnny Rotten, Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Sid Vicious will give fans a rare chance to see the band’s explosive concerts right before implosion.
Strong Performance
Renowned for its strong performances and backstage controversy, the tour came to a legendary—and finally last—show at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on January 14, 1978. The band’s initial chapter would only be resurrected when they got back together in 1996; this explosive farewell marked the end of it.
Defining Tracks
Among the setlists are defining tracks such as “God Save the Queen”, “Bodies”, and “Anarchy in the UK”, which was provocatively retitled *Anarchy in the USA* for these gigs. The Sex Pistols recordings were taken from three key dates on the tour: South East Music in Atlanta on January 5, Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas on January 10, and the climactic Winterland Ballroom show.
Each Sex Pistols release will also be available in vibrant vinyl editions: red for Atlanta on February 28, white for Dallas on March 28, and blue for San Francisco on April 25. For those who prefer digital or CD formats, these will be available as well, ensuring the experience reaches all fans of punk rock’s defiant spirit.
