Serj Tankian, ‘Elasticity’ – Single Review

Serj Tankian, who fronts System Of A Down is back with wacky new rock release, ‘Elasticity‘. It is very SOAD. But, it is no surprise given the intended home was on a new album for the rock group, but it never happened, so Serj is riding the wave alone.

Driving Serj’s trademark vocal style-forward, ‘Elasticity‘ kicks off as you would expect. The singers vocal slaps the chops leaving a rash with an unusually high pitched non-lexical vocable rising out of the opener. The guitar is fearless, and the drum rhythm strikes with bite.

Thrilling

Hypnotic with an irresistible foundation, ‘Elasticity‘ thrills for the entirety. Also, it is a headbanging anthem with a sonic soundscape which gets better with every playthrough. It sends rock back up to the top, and the wholly unique performance from Serj is refreshing.

Towards the latter, the instrumental takes a step back, and the more passionate side of Serj leaps forward with his inviting technique gripping like a mitt. However, it is evident it is leading up to something phenomenal, and it does not disappoint. Suddenly, Serj gets back to business with the masterful mix soaring once again, and the mesmerizing outro leaks energy with epic texture.

Considered ‘one of the best vocalists in heavy metal’, Serj proves why he takes the top spot here. Furthermore, his vocal oozes confidence, and he leverages his vocal range like there is no tomorrow. Also, ‘Elasticity‘ is an insight into what is next from the famous rocker, with his new EP arriving on the 19th March.
