Guide
I just watched the video for RIAH’s “Daddy Issues,” and I’m still processing how powerful it was. As someone who’s been following her recently, I knew to expect emotional depth—but this took things to another level.
“Daddy Issues” Hits Home
It is evident that RIAH has always had a rare ability to be honest in her music, and “Daddy Issues” hits home. This new one feels like a final breaking point—like the last page of a chapter you never wanted to write, but had to. Her lyrics cut deep, capturing that exhausting loop of loving someone who constantly lets you down. I really felt that line between hurt and healing.
Stunning Choreography
The video adds an entirely new layer. The use of shadows, dramatic lighting, and haunting choreography—especially the chair and pole work—was stunning. It didn’t feel performative at all. It felt like an act of emotional survival. You can see the pain, but you also see the moment she reclaims her power. I also loved how RIAH used movement not just as dance, but as a form of storytelling. It made the whole experience feel intimate and raw.
And I respect her for how openly she addresses the stigma around pole work. In this context, it’s not about seduction—it’s about control, chaos, freedom. Watching her move with that tension between vulnerability and strength was honestly inspiring.
