Franz Ferdinand first broke onto the scene back in 2004 with their infamous self-titled debut album, “Franz Ferdinand”. It was the heyday of indie-rock with other bands such as The Libertines and Interpol all enjoying newfound fame. However, fast-forward to modern times and you may have to dig deep to find a new exciting indie band, and this appears to be frustrating Franz Ferdinand’s frontman, Alex Kapranos.
Pop Music Is Stale
Alex Kapranos has revealed recently that he believes that pop music is becoming “stale”. He stated that there has been a lot of progress made over the past decade or two, but he affirms that he feels that people genuinely want rawness and depth again, something which live bands offer.
English Teacher and Fontaines D.C.
There have been a flurry of indie and rock bands which have risen out of the underground in recent times and Alex would like to see more of this. Moreover, he praised bands such English Teacher and Fontaines D.C. for their ability to put on a great live show!
The Band’s Return
The band are actually back in town! They are making a surprise comeback with new album, “The Human Fear” which is to be released on the 10th of January 2025. The new album offers to be somewhat different to what we may expect with the sounds being “quite far” from the lead single “Audacious” which is available to stream now.
