Placebo are back, and this time with their new single, ‘Beautiful James,’ they’re serious about rocking the socks off audiences all around the world. The song is the group’s first in five years, and while it took a long time to arrive, it was well worth the wait!

The band hooks us in like a fisherman’s bate right away. A snappy synth whirls around a solid drum base, and the rhythm propels us forward before taking a slight step back in anticipation of Brian Molko’s outstanding vocal performance. The musical approach is fresh and original, with a true stadium-filling edge that will sound amazing at one of their live performances.

Flawless Vocal Delivery

Brian Molko, the band’s frontman and lead singer, stands out with his flawless vocal delivery. His distinct tone oozes appeal. Also, his emotion shines through in every note as he expresses his aversion to waking up someone he considers to be lovely. Maybe it’s a metaphor for modern society’s chaos and his agony at having to inform him of it? He’s essentially covering and protecting the other.

Overall, Placebo once again prove their mettle with their latest offering. It not only sounds very new and has a modern feel, but it also honours their classic character. Many bands struggle with this technique, but Placebo smash the nail on the head with enthusiasm.
