Indie, Pop and EDM duo The Chainsmokers have released the latest track from their upcoming 2019 album Sick Boy. ‘Beach House’ is a laid back track that features every music genre that the band are known for, blurring the lines between at least three traditional music genres with ease, making this track essential listening.
Repetitive in a comforting way is the headline for this song, the lyrics ‘Oh Darling of Mine’ feature heavily throughout with a melodic vocal throughout and the infamous electronic sound they have crafted too. Easy going and stripped back are words that also come to mind upon listening to the track a few times, with catchy lyrics and a memorable tune to go alongside it.
Speaking of the song on Twitter, The Chainsmokers said, “really love this song as well cause we tried to get back to our roots on this with that classic OG Chainsmoker feel. And we were listening to a lot of beach house”
So the track is in fact an ode to Beach House and it isn’t the first time to duo have name dropped in a track, Blink 182 get a mention in the collaboration with Halsey on the song ‘Closer’. Beach House haven’t yet reacted to the name check but that’s not to say that they won’t in time…
Since forming in 2012, the band have seen change, breakthrough and iconic moments, notably when their track ‘selfie’ entered the charts back in 2014 and more recently, performing during the Victoria’s Secret show this year which was televised this week after it was shot last month in America.
The duo made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart also have a Las Vegas residency at XS until 2019, performing DJ sets as part of a three year residency.
