Content Guide
Nelly Furtado is back doing what she does best, churning out infectious pop and with her new single, “Honesty”, she picks up where she left off! The new track is from her newly released album, “7”, which dropped on the 20th of September.
Bass-Stripped Opener
“Honesty” starts with a lo-fi intro, the bass is stripped out completely through some heavy EQ editing, but it soon arrives around 20 seconds creating a groove which has me bopping along. Am I a fan of this bass-striped opener? Personally, I have never been a fan of this type of effect, but hey ho, each to their own! The track is very short, it sits at just over 2 minutes, but this is a trend across the entirety of the album. Moreover, none of the tracks on the album really stretch that far, in fact, you can listen to the album in full in just over half an hour.
Sweet Vocals From Nelly Furtado
The vocals from Nelly Furtado are as sweet as ever though and she proves to still have that golden pop touch. It is one of the reasons why many still regard her as a pop icon, even though it has been 24 years since she first took the scene by storm with her huge hit, “I’m Like a Bird“, if you are yet to hear that song, then definitely go and check it out, you will be hooked!
Club-Like Rhythm
There is a club-like rhythm present on this track and it makes me want to step out on a dance floor. But, for me, it is a shame it is so short, I would love to hear more and it feels as though there is plenty left to offer before it reaches its final moment.
