Guide
MPH review: Ascending fast in UK Garage is MPH and I have been gripping onto his new release “Hold On” for dear life since I first locked my ears on it! The producer from Canterbury smashes it with this fresh dance-infused accelerator and here I take a deep dive!
Song Analysis (MPH Review)
The track is produced by MPH and MJ Cole, it starts with a rising synth opener, MPH gives me time to get settled into position for what is a wild ride ahead. The mix opens up with electronic synth layers that lead to a shuffling drum beat which gets the track moving, creating a pace of around 138bpm, not too fast or slow but right where the sweet spot is!
The track as you would expect from MPH is an immediate dance anthem and it will not take long until this one is echoing out of nightclubs all across the UK. I rate the energy a 7/10 with it making me feel invigorated, almost ready to smash those pre’s and get on the town, you will likely have the same experience after hearing it.
Meaning (My Opinion)(MPH Review)
If you are familiar with my previous reviews, you will know that I like to explore the meaning of songs, but when it comes to dance tracks, it can be a lot harder. Luckily, though, MPH does provide some lyrics, albeit not many, but enough for me to figure out the inspiration.
The words revolve around the theme of endurance, encouraging the audience to “hold on” during difficult times. The repeated phrase “All you gotta do is hold on” acts as a reminder to remain resilient and not give up, even when confronted with challenges. MPH also offers a sense of emotional support here too and encouragement, implying that even in difficult times, perseverance is essential for conquering adversity which is thrown at us. The repeating of this statement affirms the value of perseverance and the belief that endurance will eventually lead to better days if we just ‘hold on’.
