The Smiths’ Formation
If you think of one of the biggest indie bands from the UK it would not take long until The Smiths cropped up in your mind. The band famous for tracks like “This Charming Man” and “How Soon Is Now?” have been one of the most influential groups in the world since their formation back in 1982 in Manchester. Also, staggeringly, they were only together as a band for 5 years, with their debut album coming out in 1984 and then calling it a day in 1987, and despite many calls to reunite over the years, none have ever been victorious!
Reunion
The notion of a reunion though seemed more likely than ever recently. Moreover, the band were reportedly offered a very “lucrative” offer by AEG entertainment group to reunite and head out on a world tour in 2025. Coincidently, this comes at a time when fellow Manchester band Oasis decided to put their issues behind them and pick up their instruments together for another run! But, sadly for The Smiths’ fans, this is not to be the case for the “Heaven Knows Im Miserable” group.
Johnny Marr and Morrissey
The guitarist and singer have never really seen eye to eye since their split back in 1987. There have been countless insults fired at one another on the internet and it was only back in 2022 that Marr insisted on Steve Wright’s BBC Radio 2 show that he would never work with Morrissey again! It appears he is sticking to his word too given that Morrissey apparently agreed to this new reunion offer, but Marr ignored it!
