There is a reason why Manic Street Preachers are just as prevalent today as they were back in the 90s, they are never afraid to push the mould and they knock it out of the park with their new single “Decline & Fall” which came out on August 29th.

Songwriting Quality Of Manic Street Preachers

I have always been impressed with the songwriting quality which comes out of Manic Street Preachers. They have always managed to stay with the times while keeping the authentic sound which took them to the masses initially, way back in the late 1980s. Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield & Sean Moore come together once more here and deliver the goods which longtime fans with relish, while also most likely introducing a whole new army of listeners to their fanbase.

Stadium-Filling Sound

“Decline & Fall” is ticking all of my boxes this month, hence why I am scoring it a 5 out of 5. It starts with a stadium-filling intro. The drums strike with vehemence as the guitars rip through the speakers alongside explosive piano tones. The moment you hit play, you feel the energy surging towards you, something which Nicky Wire did make us aware of before the song came out!

Vocal Edge

A lot of bands from yesteryear will not like to hear this, but they often struggle to keep the vocal edge which they had in their formative years. Many singers start to sound a little off, almost struggling to get back to where they once were! However, that is far from the case here with James Dean Bradfield proving why he is still one of the greatest rock singers on planet earth. If anything, he sounds as though he is getting better with every release, he has a natural ability to sing with passion and his every word is believable.
