Live at Leeds have released the line up for their 2018 festival, which features both recognized and up- and-coming talent. Some of the biggest names include The Horrors, Circa Waves, British Sea Power and Anteros. BBC Sound of 2018 nominees Tom Walker, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender and Pale Waves are also integrated into the announcement, after recently gathering momentum within their own individual musical communities.
Former Kaiser Chief member Nick J.D Hodgson is looking to commence his solo career, whilst the event will bring artists such as Son Raphael, White Room and Naaz to greater public attention. The inner city festival- hosted last year at Bramham Park- attracts crowds from around the country and hosts a variety of genres, from punk and metal, to indie rock and dance. The tickets are also relatively reasonably priced, starting at around £205 for the weekend, which makes it appealing to a range of ages.
The capacity of Live at Leeds is approximately 80,000 and it is becoming famous for its promotion of local, underground artists as well as its hosting of more well-known acts. The timing of the festival means that it is an ideal platform to launch performer’s hits for the summer and for musicians to make their mark for the upcoming season. At Live at Leeds 2017, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, The 1975 and Bastille were the headliners and solidified the events reputation for amassing popular artists.
In a press statement, the Festival Director Andy Smith stated that “After arguably our strongest year for the festival in 2017, we’re excited to announce the first of many artist names for Live at Leeds 2018. The festival has always been about showcasing new music and offering emerging artists a platform to build their audience in the North and this year is no different”. He went on to add that the festival wishes to allow its attendees to “discover [their] new favourite band”.
