‘Forget Me’ by Lewis Capaldi – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆
Lewis Capaldi strongly returns to new music Friday with his new single, ‘Forget Me’. The latest release marks a return for the Scottish singer-songwriter, being his first new arrival in three years.
To the audience’s delight, Capaldi strikes it right off the bat with the quality that has become his trademark, which causes goosebumps to rise on the back of the neck. He does not hold back either, jumping right into the meat of the mix with a rapid-fire opening section. As soon as the drum begins to play and Capaldi lunges for the microphone, we realise that we are in for a real treat, and by golly, he does not let us down!
‘Forget Me’ picks up just where his prior releases left off, with the vocalist talking about heartbreak and his emotionally charged narrative striking a connection with prevalent wordplay throughout the track. Even if he is trying to move on with his life, all he does is revert to his ex-lover. In addition, he expresses how much he prefers the idea of being someone else’s reason to feel regret rather than the idea of being utterly forgotten; the lyrics are deep and thought-provoking. But it is Lewis Capaldi, and we would not want it any other way.
