Content Guide
Folk stalwart, Laura Marling serenades the ears and soul once again with her beautiful new release, “Caroline”. If there was any track I would listen to while feeling a little sombre, it would be this one by the English singer-songwriter; it is lovely!
“Patterns In Repeat” – The New Album
“Caroline” was released on the 25th of October 2024, and it is the seventh track on her new album, “Patterns in Repeat” which was released on the same day. It is the first album from Laura since her highly-praised “Animal” release back in 2021 and it is yet more proof that Laura is a leading force in the folk scene.
Music
The track starts as you would expect from a Laura Marling release with a majestic acoustic guitar arrangement emerging alongside heartfelt strings. Laura soon reaches for the microphone and her tones feel personal and intimate. She does a splendid job at balancing her emotions, leaving me massively under her spell without overwhelming me with power. Her vocals are also honest and have that typical folk likability which creates a timeless allure.
Meaning Of “Caroline” by Laura Marling
There are various themes explored by Laura in this track including lost love and closure. Moreover, it appears that “Caroline” represents a lost spark or a connection which sadly faded over time with Laura speaking about accepting the loss and not wishing to reopen old wounds. There is also the notion of accepting one’s choices in life and coming to terms with the fact that life often changes.
