Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian singer and songwriter. His mum would often upload videos of him singing covers of various R&B songs and his popularity grew from there. After a talent manager discovered him through his YouTube videos covering songs in 2008 and signed to RBMG, Bieber released his debut EP, “My World”, in late 2009. The album was certified Platinum in the US and he became the first artist ever to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100. He then released his first full length studio album in 2010 “My World 2.0” and it debuted at or near number one in several countries and was certified triple Platinum in the US.
He consecutively released more albums each year after this which spawned more hits across the globe. His fourth studio album, “Purpose” was released in November 2015 and bore three number one singles: “What Do You Mean?”, ” Sorry”, and “Love Yourself”. Since this his US album and singles sales total 44.7 million and he has sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide, making him one of the worlds bestselling artists and he is still only 23 years old.
Bieber has won numerous awards, including the American Music Award (Artist of the Year) in 2010 and 2012. He has won one Grammy Award (Best Dance Recording) for the song ” Where Are You Now” at the 2016 ceremony and most recently a Latin Grammy Award (Best Urban Fusion/Performance) for the remix of “Despacito” at the 2017 ceremony. He has been listed four times by Forbes magazine among the top ten ‘most powerful celebrities’ in the world in 2011, 2013, and 2014. Bieber also became the first artist to surpassed 10 billion total video views on Vevo.
