Jorja Smith is rising the music industry ranks at rapid speed, and it is evident to see why; she is on fire! Her new album ‘Be Right Back‘ is a testament to the singer’s prowess, and she hits the nail on the head from the first second.

Opening the album is the highly commended ‘Addicted‘, which pierces the heartstrings with prevalent wordplay. Vocally, Jorja is a breath of fresh air, and she synergises seamlessly with an eclectic range of sounds that rise out of the salient mix.

We then head into ‘Gone‘; it chills the vibe even further with an innocent overture ahead of another smash-hit delivery from Smith. She sings about losing somebody who she cherishes, and she reflects on previous turmoil.

Vocal Quality

‘Time‘ boasts a steel guitar tone rhythm with Jorja leaking infectious rnb/ soulful vocal flavour once she reaches for the mic. Probing deep into her vocal toolkit, she rises to the top, showcasing both her low and high vocal qualities.

The soundscape moves into a dreamy realm with ‘Home‘, and the cadence adopts a 80s’ aura while staying true to the contemporary space. Then, the album opens up with mesmerising delight on ‘Digging‘. The drumbeat hits with an unconventional rhythm, giving Jorja a distinct sound compared to other starlets in the same arena.

‘Weekend‘ concludes the new record, and it leaves us clinging on for dear life with Jorja gratifying the ears with an infallible vocal hook.
