Wow, I feel very nostalgic today after discovering Jet once again! The band are back with their new single “Hurry Hurry”, and if you are a fan of the band’s previous releases, this one is going to be a cocktail for you lugs!

Catchy Elements

The Auzzie rockers first impressed me way back when I was 11 years old! That’s right, their 2003 release “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” took me and the world by storm, and although it was over 20 years ago, that track still sounds just as fresh today as ever. The band continue to impress too with their new track “Hurry Hurry” which contains all of the catchy elements which brought me to the group in the first place.

Red-Hot Bass

“Hurry Hurry” starts with an omnipotent bass line, super groovy and red-hot! The vocals from Chris Cester soon emerge and he brings his cool persona to the forefront and his energy rubs off on me. There is a real sense of excitement with this track, although that matches the song title of “Hurry Hurry”, it feels as though we are going somewhere, almost an adventure!

Towards the end of the track, we are greeted by a lengthy solo section with the guitar taking on an almost synth sound, whirling around the mix with pure vigour! It is a guitar nerd’s dream come true and it leads us back to the vocals flawlessly! There is also an old-school vibe present in this section and the band bring back various vibes which were first introduced to us in their debut album in 2003.

For me, this track by Jet brings back the rock vibes which I grew up listening to! It is also proof that Jet are just as good, if not better than they were when they first took off in the early 2000s.
