Birmingham-founded rock band, ELO are to play their final show at BST Hyde Park, in July 2025. The Jeff Lynne fronted group will headline the Great Oak Stage and it will be a farewell performance to fans.
History of ELO
ELO first started their journey in the early 1970s and they were founded in Birmingham by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan. Roy Wood who then became the frontman for Wizzard left in 1972 leaving Jeff Lynne as the creative force behind the band, the group then found international success thanks to albums such as “Eldorado” (1974), “Face the Music” (1975), and “A New World Record” (1976). The group’s popularity started to decline somewhat in the 1980s and the group split up around 1986. But, much to their fan’s delight, they reformed in 2000 as Jeff Lynne’s ELO.
Hyde Park
The reason the band are playing their last show in Hyde Park could be due to the venue holding big significance for the group. Moreover, the venue was the first venue they played at after their reformation, their first show in 25 years. Jeff Lynne described the venue as the perfect place for their final show.

The band are currently on tour in North America and it is set to conclude in Los Angeles.
