Jade Patteri Interview With Colby

Jade Patteri is a dancer, actress, and singer-songwriter. Jade was chosen as one of three high school students from Southern California to perform at the Symphony Space off Broadway as part of the 2019 Broadway Artists Alliance/ JRAYS (John Raitt) Award. She was also named the National Youth Arts Awards’ 2019 Artist of the Year. Jade is also a singer-songwriter, with over 200K Soundcloud listens. Two years in a row, her original songs “Imperfectly Perfect” and “Drift” won Best New Song at the NYA Awards! Luckily for us, Jade stopped by for a chat.

Colby: You have had a hectic few years working with some of the biggest names in entertainment, including working on a film with Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and James Corden, while also being a dancer and musician. It is impressive how you manage your time, but what is the trick? How do you find time to juggle everything?

Jade: Yes! It has been hectic but at the same time so humbling and gratifying. Working alongside these incredible people has been an absolute dream. Learning from talent like Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman etc. has been so amazing especially since they have been great examples of professionalism and class in the industry that I have observed and applied in my own career. On the note of juggling my career with dancing, acting and music… it has been difficult but I thoroughly enjoy staying busy and doing what I love. The trick honestly is time management and scheduling out every day so you know how much of everything you need to get done so you can also find time to take a break that you know you have time to take.

Colby: What is the inspiration behind your new ep All The Love Songs I never Wrote?

Jade: “All The Love Songs I Never Wrote” was inspired by my realization of going through multiple relationships. The funny thing about this EP is that I used to joke to my family and friends about how I would never write love songs because they were cheesy… and then I ended up writing 6 lol! Each song on the EP has a different inspiration behind it. Where some songs deal with heartbreak and overcoming hurt others touch on that feeling you get when you know you would wait for someone even if they had no idea and didn’t ask you to. So they are all very different and to find out more I guess you’ll just have to listen to understand more of the story!

Colby: Who were your biggest idols while growing up, and do you have the same icons now as you did when you first started?

Jade: My biggest inspirations growing up and still to this day (music wise) were Maroon 5 and Jessie J. I’m still a huge Maroon 5 fan and I am 100% Jessie J’s biggest supporter, not only is she one of the most iconic vocalists of all time but her creativity and captivating energy is absolutely unmatched and she is so inspiring!

Colby: What has been your go-to escape during the lockdowns? Have you found that music has helped you during the pandemic?

Jade: Music. Music. And more music honestly. Music and writing became my sanity for a while during the lockdown and that’s why I am so excited for my new EP release because you’ll really get to hear a side of me that is much more personal… due to really dealing with my emotions and healing through quarantine.

Colby: What does 2021 have in store for Jade Patteri? What are your plans for the rest of the year?
