Jackson Dollinger is a Los Angeles, California-based actor, producer, singer, and composer. He stopped by GSGM to speak with Colby.
Colby: Hello Jackson, thank you for speaking to us today. So, I hear that you started acting at nine years old; WOW! You must have always had an innate passion for the creative realms, then, right?
Jackson: Most definitely! I’ve always been a creative kid, but I also enjoy school. What some people don’t know, is that I’m actually a “Straight A” student who really enjoys learning. My favorite subjects are Science and Language Arts.
Colby: What do you love most about acting?
Jackson: I love being able to walk a mile in another person’s shoes. It is an incredible way to explore life and human emotion. I feel very fortunate that I get to do something I love for work.
Colby: Given that we are a music outlet, we want to talk about your new single, ‘Take Me Back’. What is the inspiration behind it?
Jackson: “Take Me Back” is about wondering where I would be if I hadn’t pursued a career in acting as a child. One theme that is portrayed throughout the song is that, it is okay to question your life decisions, as long as you are proud of yourself at the end of the day. Many people do not realize that working child actors have to sacrifice certain childhood experiences. For example, our schedules don’t lend themselves to things like being on an organized sports team or participating in extracurricular school clubs . I guess what I am trying to say is that there are many benefits and some cost to choosing this path at a young age. Looking back, I am very happy with my career decisions and would not change them for a second, but I still wonder how my life would have been different. Nevertheless, I look forward to continuing on this journey and will work hard to achieve my dreams.
Colby: Let’s rewind slightly now. Can you remember the first song which got you hooked on music?
Jackson: The first song that really inspired me to make music was “Robbery” by Juice WRLD. They is so much emotion and heart in that song. When I heard “Robbery,” I knew I wanted to try and make music.
Colby: Lastly, are there any plans to go out on the road with your music?
Jackson: Yes! Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to plan shows or a tour. But, that is something I definitely want to pursue in the future when I am a little older.
