With his latest single, ‘Letter to Takeoff’, American rapper Gucci Mane demonstrates once again the undeniable hip-hop quality that he possesses. This release is a tribute to Takeoff, a member of the highly-acclaimed group Migos, who sadly passed in early November.

With emotional and thought-provoking wordplay in a way that provokes introspection, Gucci Mane doesn’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to paying tribute. Furthermore, ‘Letter to Takeoff’ is a reflection on Migos and Takeoff’s life. Moreover, Mane speaks passionately about his shock at what has occurred. His skilful use of storytelling immediately strikes a chord, and his words touch home from the very first note to the very last line of the song.

Gucci expresses himself with true feeling throughout the song by building his bittersweet story on top of an indenting hip-hop foundation while the beat taps away in the background.
