‘Cadillac‘ by Foster The People is the latest gem to make it through the GSGM door. From the very start, we have welcomed it with open arms. Also, we are not letting go of it!
Fusing an indie-pop feel with nostalgic funk, the group mesmerise us instantly with a sound which even for Forster The People, is pretty out there! It is a wacky release, and this is what makes us gravitate towards it. So much so, it is so far from the norm, that you may wonder if it has come from outer space.
Mark Foster
It all kicks off with a beat clap which gets us bopping to the cadence instantly. A psychedelic vocal then rises to the top of the mix from frontman, Mark Foster. He sings with a distinct tone, and although his message is not easily understood, he still rises to the occasion and leaves us hanging on the edge of our seat waiting for his next move.
For me, I cannot get enough of the slick guitar riffs which charm their way through the noise. The amps have a 60’s British rock sound, and it makes me want to start a guitar band. Additionally, anything works on this track. Moreover, it has no set formula, and a myriad of sounds leap out as it progresses.
Overall, ‘Cadillac‘ is the perfect track for anyone who relishes indie, which is just that little bit different. Also, the direction the group have gone down is refreshing, and they have given us an early Christmas present here with this new treasure.
