‘I Love You’ by Fontaines DC – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

Fontaines DC, the Irish band, thrill with their new song, ‘I Love You’. It is a track that continues the band’s post-punk odyssey and arrives with ominous quality! The new single is off the band’s upcoming album, ‘Skinty Fia,’ which will be out on April 22nd via Partisan Records.

Opening in characteristic Fontaines DC fashion, the bassist slides up and down his fretboard, paving the way for an exhilarating vocal performance from frontman Grian Chatten, who rises to the occasion with deep conviction! His tones are dark but inviting, and he conveys himself without dissonance through his lyrics, which provide a thought-provoking interaction.

Grian’s vocals layer masterfully on top of a snappy percussion syncopation, adding to the mix’s already sturdy foundation. The cadence of the drum strikes also bond with the chorus-soaked guitar lead lines, which reverberate around the speakers with otherworldly textures.

As far as new releases go, this one from Fontaines DC is right up there with their best! The band are continually pushing the limits of their own sound, and this delivery takes them to a whole new level of class. Also, it provides us with a strong indication as to what to expect from their new LP. So much so, that we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
