Grammy Award-winner Fantastic Negrito will be appearing on Later… with Jools Holland tonight, ahead of his headline show at London’s Dingwalls on the 1st November.
Negrito will perform on tonight’s show alongside Interpol, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Bugzy Malone, Another Sky, Fatoumata Diawara, Marc Almond and Olivia Chaney, following the release of his critically acclaimed album Please Don’t Be Dead earlier this year.
Fantastic Negrito has spent much of the past two years on the road, including sold out headline shows, and stage-stealing festival performances across North America and Europe.
Negrito also supported his great fan, the late Chris Cornell, as well as Cornell’s legendary super group, Temple of the Dog. You can listen to the track ‘Dark Windows’, which is a tribute to Cornell.
To celebrate the release of Please Don’t Be Dead, Negrito played two shows at San Francisco’s historic Fillmore and also supported Sturgill Simpson, in addition to performances at Newport Folk Festival and AFROPUNK FEST this year.
His appearance on Later… with Jools Holland will be followed by a show at London’s Dingwalls on November 1st. Tickets are available here.

Praise for the new album:
“Addressing subjects from addiction and gun crime to censorship and obscene over-consumption, the anger is righteous but leavened with the hope of change.” – Uncut
“…burrowing into Delta blues, weaving in elements of Leadbelly, Prince-style funk and hip hop loops. You could call the tone political, but it’s just a cry for calm in a world of addiction, guns, corrupt police…” – Mojo
“Prince aside, there are no other comparisons for Fantastic Negrito – he’s dancing to the beat of his own drum, and it’s hard not to want to join him” – Classic Rock
“An album that is very special indeed” – Blues & Soul
