The avid gamer has just taken a big step into the industry.
Drake and Justin Bieber‘s manager Scooter Braun are now co-owners of the esports company, 100 Thieves.
The LA-based lifestyle, apparel, and esports brand was founded by the former Call Of Duty world champion, Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag.
The ‘Scorpion‘ artist and entertainment mogul Braun will take roles as strategic advisors, with the company recently completing its Series A funding round. Braun will also join its board of directors.
According to Forbes, 100 Thieves now has a total of $25 million in funding. The newly-acquired investments are said to be going towards building a content team, securing new talent, and expanding its apparel line. According to a press release, Drake was already working with the brand on apparel collaborations.
“With Matt’s experience, talent, and vision as a professional gamer he and his team have built one of the most authentic brands in the ever-evolving gaming space,” Braun said.
Speaking of joining one of the gaming industry’s fastest-rising companies, he added: “We are honoured to join the 100 Thieves family during this exciting phase of their professional journey. I personally could not be more thrilled for 100 Thieves. This is just the beginning.”
Drake has previously teamed up with 100 Thieves on custom gaming stations for his ‘Scorpion’ tour. The company was also one of the earliest to enter the competitive community of Fortnite – of which Drake is an avid player.
Earlier this year, the Toronto rapper gave video game streamer Ninja $5,000 (£3,519) for winning their latest Fortnite battle. Drake and Ninja had previously livestreamed their Fortnite sessions on Twitch – including in March when they broke the record for the most-viewed live broadcast on the platform during a game with Travis Scott and NFL star JuJu Smith-Schuster.
