Demi Lovato plucks at the heartstrings with her latest delivery ‘Still Have Me’. It is a track which I find myself gravitating towards with a sublime vocal performance from the former X Factor USA judge.
It kicks off with a beautiful piano arrangement which instantly sets the tone for the entire piece. Furthermore, we know just from the first few seconds that the single is going to be sentimental and boy, does it get the emotions flowing. Demi sings with genuine passion and her bold lyricism grips instantly. She sings about her recent relationship which sadly came to a halt with her and former fiancé, Max Ehrich calling off their engagement.
Inspiring
However, it resonates out with many during the COVID period also. Moreover, she sings about still having herself, and many of us will be able to relate to her strong message, especially given that we are all living through unprecedented times. Musically, ‘Still Have Me’ stays relatively simplistic. There is no shabang, or nothing which hugely jumps out as being colossal. However, the gentle and angelic approach is inspiring, and it needn’t be all guns blazing given the intense vocal delivery from Demi.
As the track progresses, a driving rhythm propels forward with a nail-biting texture. It also comes with a mesmerising synth melody which gives the track an irresistible flavour. Additionally, the backing harmonies which arrive, add even more emotion to Demi’s already strong vocals. They come at the most critical time when Demi is cementing her message deep.
Towards the end of the piece, Demi unleashes her signature vocal range in impeccable style. She leaves no room for any ambiguity, and she demonstrates why she is one of the worlds greatest singers.
