‘Nightshift’ by Bruce Springsteen – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆
‘Nightshift’, by rock superstar Bruce Springsteen, popularly known as “The Boss”, demonstrates that he still has the magic touch after all these years. This new single, a version of a Commodores classic, arrives in advance of Springsteen’s upcoming album, ‘Only the Strong Survive’. It will be the hitmaker’s 21st studio album.
‘Nightshift’ is all that we could have dreamed of from an artist who has been giving treasures time and time again ever since he made his debut many decades ago. Furthermore, he serenades us with his one-of-a-kind vocal delivery. He injects fresh charisma into the mix by adopting an upbeat tone that encourages us to keep going and to keep in mind that even when we are in a challenging situation, we will eventually be in a place where we can look back on this time and smile.
Wistful
The music has a wistful quality to it, and the production has a calming effect on the listener. It maintains the integrity of the original while introducing a new dimension that will win over many people. In addition, the piano fills us with affectionate warmth. Also, the delicate percussion strikes glue everything together in a way that is both seamless and effective. The already fantastic soundscape that Bruce and his band have laid down is given an additional layer of panache by the addition of saxophone and trombone accompaniments.
