Offically declared legally single, Britney Spears marks a turning point in her post-divorce existence. This decision came on December 2, her 43rd birthday, and is the final legal step in her separation from Sam Asghari, which was finalized in May 2024. The couple parted ways in July 2023 and it was just over a year after the pair decided to tie the knot.
Irreconcilable Differences
Claiming irreconcilable differences as a couple, 30-year Sam Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023. Notwithstanding the breakup, reports found that the divorce was friendly and that there were no disputes over the prenuptial agreement. The two had first crossed paths in 2016 when Asghari featured on Britney’s “Slumber Party” music video.
Mutual Respect
Both sides have underlined the mutual respect they kept throughout the split. Britney considered the end of the relationship in her public remarks, saying that although the split surprised her after six years together, she would not go into specifics of the breakup. Rather, she has embraced her newly acquired independence and kept her eye on herself going ahead.
