Oi, Blinkers! Stop what you are doing because Blink 182 are back and with a bang they explode right onto the rock scene with their new single “TAKE ME IN”. Damn, this one is good. I have been in love with it since the first second my punk-rock ears got stuck on it.

Emotional Power

“TAKE ME IN” has an emotional power which hits home immediately. I love Blink 182 when they are being silly and singing about all sorts of randomness, but I think they have a real skill for creating songs that have powerful narratives. This one falls into that latter category and if you delve back through their discography you will find similar secret gems like this.

Trademark Sound

The track starts with a guitar introduction which sits atop an air filled with synthy undertones. The drums from Travis soon emerge, soft at first but getting right to the trademark sound as the track progresses. The vocals from Tom DeLonge are as potent as ever and he gets right to the core of the message of the song speaking about reaching an amicable agreement and stopping all disputes.

Synergy of Tom, Mark and Travis

Fans will likely moan at me, but I was unsure at first who was singing in the opening because Tom does sound a little like Mark in the early stages. Although, Mark does appear later in the track with his verses cementing the message even deeper on top of Travis Barker’s impressive drum rhythms. They all have a great synergy and it appears that the group are all working at their best once again. That is the great thing about Blink 182, they manage to reinvent themselves while staying loyal to the sound which took them far in the first place.
