Guide
Bruce Springsteen is one of the most consistent rockers I know of, can you believe he released his first song over 59 years ago? Wow! Well, lucky people, the boss is back and he knocks it out of the park with his new single “Blind Spot” from his album “Tracks II: The Lost Albums“.
Song Analysis (Blind Spot Review)
“Blind Spot” is a song to get lost in and if you are a Springsteen fan, you will likely be whisked away from the get-go. It is not as powerful as his biggest tracks such as “Born In The USA” or “Dancing In The Dark” but arguably I would say it is up there with his best. It starts with drums being the focal point, it starts gradually and it is a slower burner with Bruce soon emerging and providing us with his quintessential vocal touch.
Bruce Springsteen – “Blind Spot” Lyrics (Blind Spot Review)
Verse 1
We inhabited each other
Like it was some kind of disease
I thought that I was flyin’
But I was crawling on my knees
Chorus
Everybody’s got a blind spot, brings ’em down
Everybody’s got a blind spot they can’t get around
Verse 2
We mixed our blood together
Down on the muddy shore
I was lookin’ for some lost part of myself
Prayed you might restore
Chorus
Everybody’s got a blind spot, brings ’em down
Everybody’s got a blind spot they can’t get around
Guitar Solo
Verse 3
So I dreamt my love was lost
And I lived, lived by luck and fate
I burned each bridge I crossed
Until I, I stood at your gate
Chorus
Everybody’s got a blind spot, brings ’em down
Everybody’s got a blind spot they can’t get around
Everybody’s got a blind spot, baby, brings ’em down
Everybody’s got a blind spot they can’t get around
Meaning (My Opinion) (Blind Spot Review)
Human relationships and the emotional blind spots that can shape, and sometimes damage, our lives are the focus of Bruce’s lyrics. Moreover, in the verses, Springsteen paints vivid, almost mythic imagery—of lovers “inhabiting each other like a disease,” mixing blood on a muddy shore, and burning bridges—as metaphors for deeply entangled emotional bonds. There’s a sense of searching for identity and healing through another person, but also a recognition of self-deception and vulnerability. The dreamlike storytelling blurs the lines between love, loss, and personal reckoning, suggesting that sometimes what feels like flight is actually just crawling beneath the weight of our illusions.
The recurring chorus—“Everybody’s got a blind spot, brings ’em down”—acts as the emotional core of the song. It is a universal truth that anchors the narrative. Also, it suggests to me that no matter how strong, wise, or experienced we are, we all have weaknesses or unresolved traumas that can hinder us. These blind spots can manifest in relationships, in choices, or in the ways we see ourselves, and they often go unnoticed until they cause harm. Bruce’s lyrics are intimate and expansive. Also, he enables us to reflect on our own hidden faults and the way love, fate, and introspection can lead to redemption or destruction; its powerful stuff!
