‘TV’ by Billie Eilish – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

Billie Eilish, the pioneer of pop, is driving her fans into a frenzy with the release of her newest track, ‘TV’. Once again, the singer-songwriter who co-writes her songs with her brother, Finneas, has many of us under her spell. Moreover, she serenades the ears with the exquisite tones of her voice.

It is a passionate composition with very little occurring inside the opening mix, showcasing Billie’s vocals’ purity. She climbs to the top of the mix with only an acoustic guitar rhythm strumming beside her. The vehemence with which she sings is mesmerising, and she reveals even more of herself than she ever has in a tale that investigates love and relationships and the feeling of loss.

According to sources, the song came about while on the road and away from the recording studio. There is nothing particularly complex about it, but the recording sounds wonderful, thanks to the fact that the original dynamics are still present in the production. Also, the impromptu nature of its creation gives it its raw and appealing quality.

The song builds up to an emotional climax as it progresses, with Billie featuring audio of her fans chanting along to the refrain before going back to just herself on the microphone and singing the profound lyrical line, “Baby, I, baby, I, baby, I’m the problem.”
