Electronic producer, Barry Can’t Swim gets us bopping and in the mood for the weekend with his new single “Still Riding”. It is a release which I have been relishing ever since I hit play and I believe that this fresh arrival from the Scottish DJ is up there with the most potent of new dance releases this month.

Infectious Opener

“Still Riding” starts with a vocal sample sitting atop a high-frequency-driven drum rhythm. The bass tones soon emerge and knock the mix out of the park with a groove which will have the toughest of listeners tapping their feet. The track builds as it progresses with Barry Can’t Swim introducing a myriad of sounds and effects, keeping us glued to the speakers at every turn.

In the midsection, the track takes a slight breather with the drums slowing down and the bass taking us off to a new realm. The momentum soon starts to build up again with robotic vocal effects leading us to a huge finale section. It is impossible not to feel at ease while the music whisks us off to dreamland. Also, the producer has a unique and refreshing way of blending many styles and sounds into his mixes and he does that again on this release.

Continued Support

Overall, this new delivery from Barry Can’t Swim is yet more proof that he is one of the most salient new producers on the scene right now. Also, with continued support from leading names in the industry such as BBC Radio 1, there is no reason why he cannot go on to become a household name in the dance space, joining the likes of Fisher and James Hype; he is well on his way!
