Alt-pop trio Banfi, made up of Joe Banfi (vocals), Aaron Graham (drums) and Chris McCuaig(bass), have announced the release of their second EP Marlow, due to be released October 28th via Communion Records. The EP’s first track If Not For You dropped last month and promises good things to come from the upcoming East London band after managing to gain recognition on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist. Filled with toe-tapping rhythms and feel-good sunshine beats, the tune maintains a positively upbeat energy despite the melancholic lyrics which are entwined within. This juxtaposition demonstrates the thin line between hope and fear, a recurring element of exploration for the band and the track itself is a testament to Banfi’s mastery over statements of sentimentality.
Whilst the band formed back in 2015, the boys released their debut EP The Jack Powell EP earlier this year and have since played a run of European festivals. Banfi will bring their forthcoming EP home on a UK headline tour in November where fans will be able to see them perform at a series of intimate venues across the country, including London’s Moth Club in Hackney. Bringing together influencing elements from Bombay Bicycle Club, Biffy Clyro and The Police, Banfi have managed to maintain a sound that is both comforting and familiar without becoming lost in the sea of indie music. Having spoken about their insistent desire to avoid the narcissistic themes associated with a social media obsessed generation, (us, social media obsessed?? never) the London lads instead turn their hands to crafting emotionally charged, super slick sonic bangers. If that sounds like a bit of you, we highly recommend you check them out on their autumn tour, with dates listed below for your ultimate convenience. You’re welcome.
